Friction Stir Welding Machines for Research
FSW Machines for Steels and High Temperature Alloys
Friction Stir Welding of steels and high temperature alloys places unique demands on the stir welding machine. Working closely with MegaStir Technologies, TTI has developed machines specifically tailored to meet these unique process requirements. Visit MegaStir on the web.
The RM-1 machine shown here is not only the most rigid small machine on the market, it is also the most cost effective. This attractively priced machine includes force and position controlled motion axes, and full data acquisition.

The RM-1 has been chosen by Boeing Commercial Airplane Group for both R&D and production of structural components.

RM-2 for TWI

The RM-2 is the ultimate high stiffness machine for the most demanding FSW tasks.  This machine has been selected by TWI (The Welding Institute- inventors of FSW), as well as by Brigham Young University (the leading research center in the USA for stir welding of steels and high temperature alloys.)

The machine features a full 2 m (78") stroke, axial thrust capacity up to 100kN (22,500lbf), torque of up to 768 N-m (6800lb-in), and a centerline balanced design with twin ball screw drive for minimum deflection at high force.

The RM-2 has capability to spare at a price that would buy only a "toy machine" from other FSW equipment suppliers.
