 TTI Develops Friction Stir Weld Tooling for the Eclipse 500 Jet
The Eclipse 500 Jet is the first commercial aircraft to extensively use the Friction Stir Welding process for the airframe. The complex geometries required had never before been successfully executed with this process. TTI developed all of the tooling concepts, wrote the tooling specifications, and led the technical development of the tooling from a clean sheet of paper to completion of the first welded product.
